Flying Spaghetti Monster - Portrait from Self

Portrait from self.
His Deliciousness, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, made from His own body. An FSM portrait made from several kinds of pasta and lots of glue. (why yes, it did take longer than I thought!)
I hadn’t seen anybody do an FSM piece from dry pasta yet (my Google-Fu might be lacking punch though), and figured I’d rise to the occasion. Just to make sure I wasn’t completely wasting my time if unoriginal, I compensated by thoroughness and such.
Canvas size is 50×50cm.
More! more!

How?
Inspired/based on FSM artwork found at Venganza.org (the website where the FSM first made himself known), and from fan-made images found at Google images.
I first made a sketch of the outlines of His body on canvas, then glued over these lines with small pieces of spaghetti, three to six rows deep. The inner spaces (noodles, meatballs and eye stalks) were made dark with ink (to hide any eventual gaps) before using several kinds of broken down pasta to further fill in the body. And I finished up by filling in the eyes and background, hiding all mistakes beneath a thick carpet of pasta. Somehow I used a pound of sweet, sweet glue in the process.
In total 7 different kinds of pasta were used to create the piece. Spaghetti for the outlines, tagliatelle to fill in His noodly appendages, a bit of vermicelli on the eye-stalks, green & orange fusilli for His meaty balls and glass noodle on the eyeballs. The background is filled in with broken down lasagna Verde sheets on the bottom and ground up Chinese egg noodle on top.
Yummy.

That is stunning. Well done, sir.
Why thank you, dear Instigator.
And thanks for posting this on the church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. May you spread the word long & hard.
That is so cool. I love it, and the title. :)
Simply breath-taking. Hats off to you, sir.
Beyond cool. I’d love to have that in my house. RAmen.
That is brilliant. If only it was still edible. Mmmmmmm.
Awesome piece of art. Ramen!
That is quite a Monsterpiece (excuse the pun, I just had to).
This is a truly worthy homage to His Noodley Goodness!
I would love to use this sacred image on my personal holiday cards this year, would that be alright with you?
May his Noodley Appendage Touch you!
Pastafarians Jeff & Kye Arrrgggg!
Thanks Jeff, Kye and others who commented above. Your pleasantness fills the cockles of my heart.
As far as Christmas cards go: I kinda like the idea spreading the word (especially during the holidays), so by all means go ahead (As long as it all stays non-commercial).
Take the wallpapers posted in the post below for a better resolution. Ramen
That is marvelous. Do you have any wallpaper-sized versions, so as to spread His image across laptops and desktops the world over?
He Len, Good Call.
In the future I’ll have a page up especially for such things but until then I’ve re-cropped in a couple of sizes.

Unfortunately the sharpness in the source file leaves the larger files a bit… wanting.
In the largest version, the Self medium physically looks a bit dull. Being that it is a food product, have you applied any kind of fixative to it as a protectant? The glue alone won’t do it, I don’t think. Way back in my art classes, I remember using Krylon(?) for preserving media that easily deteriorates.
Nope,I didn’t apply anything like you are describing. It must be an artifact from the dry pastas (some of which do shimmer under the light) and the truly staggering amount of glue.
I wept with joy upon seeing this physical representation of His Noodly Goodness. Let the heathens have their Sistine Chapels and their Angkor Wats, Pastafarians have this magnificent image to view to inspire our contemplation and reflection. may you always be cradled in His Noodly Appendages!
Obviously Intelligently Designed.
I raise my mug of rum to ye, noble pirate. My felicitations for a noble, flattering and delicious tribute. Noodly blessings be upon ye!
pastalicious!!
